About Us

Heidi is the owner and head trainer of Good K9 Training Academy. Her passion for dogs started with volunteering with a Pit-Bull rescue in Louisianna. Heidi had her own dogs that were both human and dog aggressive. After experiencing the loss of her first dog to aggression, she never wanted anyone to feel the loss that she did.

Heidi began her dog training career in California, apprenticing with Rob Peladeau of NexGen K9, a well-known dog trainer who specialized in aggression rehabilitation. Through a 3-year partnership, Heidi was able to not only change the life of her aggressive dog, but the lives of countless others who suffered from the same fear aggression.  Rob and Heidi founded 11th Hour K9 Rescue, a non-profit to help rescue and rehabilitate shelter dogs who shut down under the stress of the shelter environment. 

Through her 8-year career, Heidi worked with Police and Military working dogs, service dogs, and a variety of behaviors ranging from foundational obedience to aggression and leash reactivity. Following her career in the Army, Heidi decided to go back to her true passion of dog training, and Good K9 Training Academy was born.
